Theme: Institutionalizing Green Building Standards for Nigeria’s Built Environment
GreenCard Certification International is calling on regulators, investors, developers, contractors, manufacturers, professional bodies, and ecosystem enablers to collaborate as Founding Partners in the rollout of Construction Project GreenCard (CPGTM) Nigeria’s first green building rating and certification framework. Conceived as a market shaping instrument for sustainable infrastructure delivery, CPGTM is designed to provide a national benchmark for green building performance, support project certification, and strengthen alignment between sustainability, policy, and capital allocation in the built environment. The organization noted that this initiative represents a decisive step toward institutionalizing credible standards for how construction projects in Nigeria are designed, assessed, financed, and recognized. Interested stakeholders are invited to express interest and begin engagement toward Founding Partner participation through the official registration portal
Commenting on the significance of the initiative, Dr. Sanmi Olowosile, Managing Director of Construct Green Consult LLC, commended the work and described it as a major inflection point for the sector. According to him, “This is the turning point that the construction industry in Nigeria has been waiting for. The emergence of CPGTM creates the basis for a more disciplined, performance led, and investment ready built environment market. It gives the industry a credible framework to move from fragmented sustainability claims to measurable project standards.” His remarks reinforce growing industry sentiment that Nigeria now requires a practical and nationally relevant mechanism to drive green building adoption at scale, and organizations that engage early will be better positioned to shape the standards, partnerships, and market confidence that follow.
